Hat Lieberman, or as I still think of him, Blog Lieberman, deemed this month "Yeti December" and has invited the world to draw some yeti (yetis?). In similarity to what I post here, it is somewhat of a self portrait. Not sure when or why I fell into making everything a self portrait, strange.

Cereal Commercial Storyboards

These are some storyboards I did for storyboarding class. It's a 30 second commercial for an all bran and marshmallows cereal I named Branmallow. The mascot for the cereal is a humanoid bran flake named Branmaster Bill when he is working (doing commercials and helping people) and Bill Branson when he's not (at home, at the store, etc.) Bill has the power to create marshmallows and teleport from room to room. He is almost always very intense and sometimes his sentences are broken by his own deranged cackles. Bill goes from house to house saving people from boring breakfast by adding marshmallows. The way he does this might seem somewhat scary, but people love him. Before Bill blasts their cereal he always says is signature catchphrase, "You can eat that with MARSHMALLOWS!!!!!!!!"

For sound class the past couple weeks we had to put sound effects and ambience to a video clip of our choice. I wasn't sure what to do so I just chose a small clip from Ice Age. Here's my finished product, it's probably heard better over headphones or real speakers (not laptop) just a heads up. The sound might be sorta off from the export, I apologize if it is. I recorded all the sound effects in a studio except for the seagulls, the ocean ambience (I did record the wave that takes the acorn), and the two explosions. Well, if you own a computer and back-up your data, you care. If these babies hit retail one disk can back up all your shit instead of the DVD equivalent of roughly 85. One disk instead of 85! Wouldn't that be handy? Let's hope everything goes well and we see these very soon.

Stop Motion Final.

Last night I took it upon myself to start my stop motion final which should have been started a long long time ago. I've been procrastinating big time on this one and I haven't been sure if I am actually going to be able to get it done because based on what Owen's dad said about his project and the fact that Owen has more done than me, things aren't looking so hot. Last night proved to be a good night for stop motion though and i turned out something pretty neat. I think the way this turned out might hint towards my project getting finished and not lookin too shabby.

This is my first shot for my final. It's not the first shot in the order of shots just the first shot piece of animation. It was done using cardboard cut out puppets to make shadows on a piece of tracing paper with a light behind it. My story involves a monster that causes problems and gets a tooth ache resulting in him blacking out and waking up at the dentist then he becomes a good monster after the great dental work. This is the dentist scene after he blacks out. Its supposed to have a somewhat dreamlike/not all there, feeling to it.

I apologize for how poorly written the slop above is. I am feeling sorta lazy I guess.

I apologize because it's been a while since my last post. Things have been very busy in my neck of the woods and are only about to get much busier, as we get closer and closer to the end of the semester. Here are some things I have to get done for my furniture sculpture class before semesters end.

This my bronze sculpture that was shown before in wax form. It has finally been cast in $127 of bronze and needs to be cleaned and prepped for completion. The white stuff all over it is the remains of the porcelain like shell that was made around the wax. After the shell was made around the wax, I fired the shell which burned out the wax and left the empty shell with every detail of my wax sculpture. Then it was put into a kiln to make it even harder and turn it into the porcelain-like shell that I poured molten bronze into. After it cooled I broke the shell away with a hammer, which brings us to what we are seeing here. I also got to wear a funny suit that looked just like the one below.

Next up is my current final project for furniture sculpture. The project was to make a functional piece of furniture using an Ikea aesthetic. I was originally gonna make some crazy car horn key board thing, but after going to Ikea with my friend Justin I was talked into making a bed. The whole bed idea seemed to make more sense than the crazy car horn machine, as far as fitting the assignment. So after picking out some bed designs I enjoyed, I came up with my design and proceeded to model it in Maya to get a feel for what I was in for. Here are some images of the model. It's a pretty ambitious project and my teacher tried to shy me away from it, but I figured I'd better give it a try. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Here's some more stopmotion. This is my ball test, which is the first animation assignment we had for class. The assignment was to make a ball roll in a couple different ways then do whatever you wanted. I was fairly pleased with mine.

Monster Post!

This is my Monster Post, where I'm going to be posting about a great deal of things all at once.

This first thing I am going to mention is this. My good friend Kate Farstad has recently been featured on http://www.fecalface.com two days in a row for Photo of the Day. That's pretty much awesome and I'm way happy for her. I figured this was a worthy achievement and I featured her here as well. Check her out. Grats Kate.

My next line of business is this image that I love. I felt it would be a good idea to share it with the rest of the world, since it brings me so much joy. It was done by Lou Romano, who is basically my favorite artist on blogger right now. Thanks to Mr. Romano for keeping me happy.

Now I would like to share with you something I've made recently. This is a practice piece from my stop motion class. The objective in this assignment was to convey 3 emotional changes using our sculpted heads.

A special thanks to Justin for rekindling the fire that burns beneath the Tech Deck temple. Here are the two new boards I bought last night. Pretty killer. I had no idea they made old school boards. Playing with Tech Decks makes me feel like a little kid again. It's great.

I recently scored a coupla sweet books over the past month or so. I'm a sucker for sweet books. This first ones pretty small and has this amazing wood look to it. I might make it into a sketchbook eventually, who knows. Someone should pay me to make it into a sketchbook for them. That would be grand.

I scored this next book at savers, which was pretty exciting seeing as how its my favorite shape and color. Its a pretty large book with some really nice large images in it. This one will never be made into a sketchbook. It's way too nice for that mistreatment.

The last book is my pride and joy. It's absolutely the most beautiful book I own. I stumbled upon this beauty in the MCAD library and after admiring it for a while, I finally decided to go hunting for my own. I was willing to pay at least $50 for this book and did not think that I would actually find one, but a little looking proved to be the best decision I have made in a while. I ended up finding the book for sale at http://www.powells.com/ for $6. Yes, six dollars! I was like, "Whoa! What the fuck? Why is this so cheap??!?! I can't go wrong with this one!" Seriously I couldn't go wrong. The book could be in the worst condition, but who cares? It's 6 bucks. The site said it was in "standard" condition, so I bought it. It came shortly after my purchase and I was a very jolly boy. The book turned out to be in pristine condition. I was amazed. $6 for the book of my dreams, in pristine condition. It was like my birthday. A hand written card came with the book that talked about how if this book were in production today it would cost around $450 and that any similar books in perfect condition would be under lock and key. Both the book and the hand written card had price tags that read $250. I would say that I got a steal of a deal on this one.

The last section of this Monster Post is something from a folder I have called, "0SamsStuffHeLikes". This folder houses random images I find and enjoy. I'm not really sure where I get them but they sure are great. (My apologies to the actual owners of these images. I am sorry that I am not able to credit them properly. If the need for credit is due on something tell me and I'll fix it.)

I went to Target today (well more like Targets) to buy a new camera and every store i went to was out of the cameras i chose to buy. Sorta disappointing, but they did have a lot of sweet stuff. So instead of getting a camera, I bought a sheep.
Here's what I liked: Sweet Rocket Ship illustration on a wooden Yo Yo; Killer, Animals shaped using their names; and The Most Adorable Cutest Fattest Sheep in the world (which i bought for mah sweetie) I named him Roger.

So, this is my first post on this here new blog of mine. I'm going to attempt to use this blog to showcase my artwork, projects I've been working on, things I like, and things I have to say. I'm not really tied down to one thing yet.

I guess I will christen this virgin blog with something I made last night. It was done on a piece of wood I found in the trash, and it's painted with watercolor and acrylic. I found a buncha sweet stuff in the trash at the MCAD shop yesterday. Pretty exciting.
